About Big Blue Cuddle

Founded in 2010 by Lara Soetekouw, Big Blue Cuddle is born from the improbable combination of a love for imaginative and colourful children clothes, a hate for waste and a deep desire to do something to help children around the world have a better life.

Big Blue Cuddle is not a regular online shop, it is a wonderful win, win, win scenario:

We work with carefully selected suppliers of the nicest, brightest children clothes who give us great deals on a limited selection of their stock, current or from previous collections, bringing you a wonderful and eclectic choice of clothes to buy for newborns to 10 year olds. Because of the generosity of the amazing people behind these brands who share our desire to help improve the life of disadvantaged children, Big Blue Cuddle can donate between 15% and 50% of the value of each sale to a children charity.

So the result is that everybody wins:

Suppliers get noticed in the UK market, build a reputation as a "good" brand in a relevant and understated way and have a good solution for potential excess stock

Customers discover new brands, buy great clothes which are truly different from anything else available on the high street and have the satisfaction of having helped raise funds for a good cause without spending anything extra

Charities receive funds which can make a big difference and raise awareness about their projects and work

How does it work?

Simple. You shop normally, when you are ready to check out you get to choose the charity that will receive the donation on your behalf.

We vouch to donate 15% of the total value of your purchase if you spend less than Ł75, 25% if you spend between Ł75 and Ł150 and an amazing 50% if you spend more Ł150. So, for example, if you spend Ł100 on this site, Big Blue Cuddle will make a donation of Ł25 to the charity of your choice.

After you’ve paid Big Blue Cuddle for your purchase, we’ll send your lovely clothes to you and the donation to the charity you chose. We will not give your details to the charities and you will not be contacted by them.

Giving twice

Big Blue Cuddle makes sending gifts to babies and children even more special as the recipient will know which cause you chose to support with their gift – so they can feel good too. Tell us it’s a gift and, for a small additional charge of Ł2, we’ll wrap it (in recycled brown paper!) and hand write your message on a card. Our card also has its own way of saying which cause you chose to support.

Minimising waste in our packaging

As we said, we hate waste so we thought we’d use up some of the packaging material other business don't need anymore and minimise the use of new plastic bags. So as much of our packages as possible are sent out in reused material we collect with some help from friendly local businesses.

Delivery

We aim to dispatch orders within 24 hours, except for Sundays.

Unless you're ordering a very large amount or you give us different instructions, we use the standard Royal Mail First Class service for all our deliveries. This means that you can expect to receive your parcel one or two working days after we have dispatched them if in the UK and 5-7 working days if for Europe or the rest of the world.

Please contact us if you would like to arrange the delivery differently.

Our delivery charges are:

– In the UK, delivery for order above Ł50 are free. All other order within the UK are charged at Ł2.50.

– In Europe, delivery will be charged Ł5.50 irrespective of the value of the purchase.

– In the rest of the world, delivery will be charged Ł7.50.

For international deliveries, please note that customs might charge you Local import duties when the parcel entries your country payable on receipt. We have no control over these charges and can’t be hold responsible for paying them

Returns

We are happy to exchange any item of your order if you’re not entirely satisfied for whatever reason. Please return the unworn item(s) within 14 days of receipt, with a note of your order number and contact details. Write to us for more details instructions and return address.

Because we might have already sent the donation to the charity of your choice, we can’t offer you a refund but we will be happy to send you an alternative item of the same value or give you a voucher for the full value of your purchase. Please tell us your preference and what replacement item you would like when you return your order or contact customer service.

Although goods are returned at your expense, there will be no delivery charge when sending you the replacement item(s) anywhere in the world.

Privacy

Big Blue Cuddle does not store credit or debit card details, nor will we not pass on your personal details to any third party, including the charities you have chosen to receive the donation on your behalf.
